| The purpose
of this web page is to provide information about the construction
of reliability improvements at Fairfax Water’s Tysons
Corner Pump Station. These improvements are designed to
ensure continuity of water utility service to the surrounding
community during local and regional power outages by generating
electricity on-site during interruptions in the commercial
power supply. This project consists of adding an electric
power generator inside the existing pump station as well
as related outside support equipment.
This project was initiated to provide safe and adequate
water supplies during interruptions in the distribution of
commercial electric power. Installation of an electric generator
at this facility is part of a multi-million dollar investment
being made by Fairfax Water to ensure continuity of water
service during normal as well as emergency operating conditions.
Power generation facility construction is estimated to take
approximately 13- months and will be restricted to normal
working hours. The impact to traffic flow on International
Drive and Lincoln Lane is expected to be minimal. Every reasonable
effort will be made to minimize dust, noise and environmental
impacts during this work and all applicable county construction
restrictions will be satisfied.
